Arnett: The SEC's Lone Rookie Coach

Zach Arnett Leads With Experience

Zach Arnett, a 36-year-old New Mexico native, is not only the lone rookie among the Southeastern Conference's (SEC) 14 coaches, he's also the youngest.

From the New Mexico Desert to San Diego State

Arnett cut his coaching teeth at San Diego State, where he spent a decade as an assistant coach. He worked his way up the ranks, eventually becoming the defensive coordinator in 2018.

A Rising Star in the SEC

Arnett's success at San Diego State caught the attention of Mississippi State University, which hired him as their head coach in 2023. He is now tasked with leading the Bulldogs to success in one of the nation's toughest conferences.

Despite being a newcomer to the SEC, Arnett brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the conference. He is known for his innovative defensive schemes and his ability to motivate his players.

It remains to be seen how Arnett will fare in his first season as a head coach in the SEC, but his talent and dedication suggest that he has the potential to be a success.
